Privacy
What this site collects, what it does not, and who else is involved.
This site is an archive. It has no accounts, no sign-up, no payments and no shopping basket, so there is nothing here that asks you for a name, an address or a card.
What the site collects
Nothing that identifies you. There is no analytics script, no advertising tag and no social tracking pixel on these pages. The server that answers your request keeps an ordinary access log — the address requested, the time, the response code, the browser string — in the way every web server does, and that log is used to keep the site up, not to build a profile.
Cookies
The site sets no cookies of its own. The menu on a narrow screen is a checkbox in the page, not stored state, so nothing about your visit is kept between pages.
Other people’s pages
Articles in the archive link out, and some older material embeds images hosted elsewhere. Once you follow a link you are on that site and its own policy applies; we have no control over it and no access to what it collects.
The archive itself
Property pages, bylines and photographer credits in the archive are the record of what was published at the time. If a page carries information about you that you want removed, write to the desk through Contact with the address of the page.
